Learn your risk for the top cause of death and make a plan toward better health

Baton Rouge, La. – Heart disease is responsible for one in four deaths in Louisiana. The first step in changing that is helping people to understand their individual risk factors. On Saturday, March 25, Baton Rouge General will offer a $25 comprehensive heart screening event that will provide attendees with the numbers they need to create a personal prevention plan.

“The sooner that we identify people’s biggest risk factors of heart disease, the sooner we can start making the changes we need to prevent or manage individual cardiac events,” said Dr. Andrew Olinde, Chief Medical Officer at Baton Rouge General. “For some, these screening tests are reassurance that they are on the right track. But for others, it’s a wake up call to allow them to begin a path towards better health.”

The Love Your Heart Day event begins at 7 a.m. and will offer the following screenings, valued at $450.
  • Cholesterol
  • Glucose
  • Carotid artery
  • EKG
  • Blood pressure
  • Heart risk assessment
  • BMI

Screenings are provided by Baton Rouge General, Baton Rouge General Physicians, Baton Rouge Cardiology Center, Baton Rouge Clinic, Cardiovascular Institute of the South, CVT Surgical Center, the Vascular Clinic and the Vascular Specialty Center.
