Baton Rouge, La. – Today, Baton Rouge General (BRG) and The Hospice of Baton Rouge (THBR) announced that the hospice’s administrative offices will relocate to the General’s Mid City campus in April.

“We are looking forward to having even more of our staff on the Mid City campus,” said Judy Day, President of The Hospice of Baton Rouge. “It’s a great location that allows us to be on the same campus as our inpatient hospice unit, The Butterfly Wing.”

The non-profit hospice’s administrative offices have been located on Siegen Lane for over 17 years, but significant growth has created a need for more space for additional staff. Over 90 employees will relocate to Mid City as a part of the move. The Hospice of Baton Rouge opened the area’s first inpatient hospice unit, The Butterfly Wing, in 2005 and later relocated the inpatient unit to Baton Rouge General Mid City’s campus in 2010. Day says it has always been a goal to combine the administrative offices and The Butterfly Wing in the same building.

The move comes after several months of expansion at the General’s Mid City campus. Since last fall, Open Health Care Clinic - an FQHC - opened a clinic on the campus, BRG Physicians opened a new OB/GYN clinic with Dr. Alicia Taylor, Baton Rouge General Home Health - a partnership with LHC Group, - opened its office at Mid City, and the campus’s Family Health Center practice doubled in size. As of March 1, the hospital is more than 75 percent full while the Medical Office Building is more than 90 percent full – up 20 percent from last year.

“We’ve worked closely with The Hospice of Baton Rouge for many years, and we’re happy to welcome their team to the campus,” said BRG CEO Edgardo Tenreiro. “With 800 employees and more than 25 services at Mid City, it’s an ideal location for healthcare organizations and physician practices.”
