Baton Rouge, La. – Original art from Baton Rouge General patients and artists in residence is on display at the Beauregard Gallery in Baton Rouge throughout August and September. The “Seasons of the Heart” exhibit consists of pieces from BRG’s Arts in Medicine program.

Since BRG’s Arts in Medicine program was created in 2012, more than 10,000 patients have participated in creative activities including painting, drawing, arts and crafts, music and storytelling in ways that inspire hope and promote healing. Studies have shown that patients who participate in Arts in Medicine benefit emotionally and physically during their treatment. Painting and drawing with professional artists provide a creative outlet, positively influencing the healing process.

A free reception will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, at Beauregard Gallery on 715 Europe Street. All pieces in the exhibit are for sale and benefit the Arts in Medicine program. One painting will be auctioned online and will conclude at the opening reception. For more information, call (225) 387-7040.
