2021’s Most Popular Baby Names

BATON ROUGE, La. – Londyn and Kayden are the most popular baby names of 2021 at Baton Rouge General.

There were some surprises with the top five boy names this year, as none of them were on 2020’s list. Noah, a mainstay on the national list, came in second at BRG, but two newcomers jumped into the top five -- Levi and Asher. Both names made the top 10 national list for the first time, and Asher made a big jump statewide, from the 36th spot to the 15th spot. Just missing this year’s top five at BRG is Reign, a name made popular by the Kardashians. Reign is the name of Kourtney Kardashian’s son.

Charlotte remained in the top five girl names, moving up a spot from last year to #2. (It takes the #6 spot nationally.) Ava didn’t make the cut last year, but is back for 2021, and sits at #1 on the state list and #4 in the U.S. The classic name Elizabeth was added to the mix this year, along with newcomer Sadie, which has trended upward on state and national lists over the past year.
