Twenty-two Doctors Headed to Baton Rouge for Residency Training

BATON ROUGE, La. – Baton Rouge General (BRG) welcomed a new class to its graduate medical education program on Friday, March 17, known nationally as “Match Day” -- the much-anticipated day when medical students find out which residency or fellowship program they are accepted or “matched” into. Twenty-two doctors will join BRG’s internal medicine residency program, family medicine residency program and sports medicine fellowship program.

The physicians will complete their residency training at BRG’s Bluebonnet and Mid City campuses, which provide a clinical setting for Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Anesthesia, Psychiatry, and General Surgery Residency Programs.

Joining the Family Medicine Residency Program are: Kaitlyn Breaux, Lexi Champagne, Feyisayo “Fey” Edalere, Katie Fitzgerald, Kelsey Larson, LeaAnn Love, Emily Ostrander, Hannah Smith.

Joining the Internal Medicine Residency Program are: Maitri Acharekar, Samhitha Avula, Ashish Dahiya, Mounika Lakhmalla, Nagendra Malipeddi, Anisha Memdani, Prabhu Ramalingam, Mackenzie Savel, Susmita Sharma, Rineetha Tandra, Sriveni Tangellapelli, Kubiat Udoh.

Dainon Miles, MD, and Bryan Nomen, MD, are joining the sports medicine fellowship program.

Graduate medical education at Baton Rouge General began as a partnership between BRG and Earl K. Long Medical Center’s Internal Medicine residency program back in 1989. Since then, BRG has trained more than 1,200 residents in over 20 specialties. In addition to internal medicine, the hospital system currently sponsors residency programs in family medicine as well as a fellowship in sports medicine, and provides instructional locations for medical students from other schools, including AUC, LSU, SGU, and Tulane.
